Sand Dunes
Sand granules accumulate through both wind and water transportation, a process known as saltation. Saltating granules form perpendicularly to the wind's direction , forming small ripples. As more granules collect, dunes form. (Source:Sand Dunes - An Overview of Sand Dunes - Geography - About.com)
